Enteric coated capsules from Capsules Hub are engineered for formulations that cannot withstand gastric acid — enabling intestinal-specific release without costly reformulation of your active ingredients.

How Enteric Coating Works

Enteric coatings resist dissolution in the acidic environment of the stomach (pH 1.2–3.5) and dissolve in the higher pH of the small intestine (pH 5.5–7.0). This targeted release protects sensitive actives and reduces gastric irritation for end users.

Ideal Applications

  • Probiotics and live cultures requiring gastric bypass
  • Enzyme formulations (bromelain, papain, systemic enzymes)
  • Delicate botanical extracts and essential oils
  • Acid-labile pharmaceutical compounds
  • Ingredients that cause gastric discomfort when released in the stomach

Available Configurations

  • Gelatin base with enteric coating
  • HPMC base with enteric coating for plant-based enteric delivery
  • Intestine-specific release profiles
  • Colon-targeted (colon-soluble) options for specialised formulations
  • Sizes 00 through 3 (custom sizing available on request)

Technical Support

Our team advises on fill material compatibility, coating thickness specifications, and dissolution testing requirements. Enteric capsules require careful consideration of fill moisture content and storage conditions — we provide guidance to ensure your finished product meets stability targets.
